Kiambu Vicarage Bishoprics

Christ is in our midst!
RE: New Ecclesiastical Boundaries and Clergy Unit Call

With this letter I wish to congratulate you all for your continued efforts in the Lord’s vineyard, which have continuously yield in different ways; one of such achievements being the new bishoprics and parishes created within Kiambu county. Please see the attached administrative boundaries circular, which will henceforth be used officially. I wish you all the best as you prepare to elect new leaders within your county vicarage, bishoprics and parishes to fit this same formula.

I would also want to address a problem that I have noticed within your vicarage. Some clergy have decided not to attend any meetings and/or seminars called by the Vicarage or their respective Bishoprics and Parishes. I have attended several of such meetings/seminars and noticed the absence of several clergymen. This is a very alarming situation, which is why I have decided to intervene. Unless all the clergy work together, there will always be problems, because you can never manage to speak or act in one voice. The fact that you were not born within the County of Kiambu, or you do not belong to the same tribe as your fellow clergymen, or even that you are not in good terms with some clergy within your locality does not exempt you from any meetings or seminars set by the Vicarage, Bishoprics or Parishes leaders. You all belong to the One Holy Catholic and Apostolic Church, and thus I as your spiritual Father expect nothing less. Any clergyman reported to not adhere to any call from the Vicarage, Bishopric or Parish leadership, will be subject to some stern ecclesiastical action and immediate transfer from the Vicarage.

With this I wish you all the best in your ministries, and look forward to meeting you all in the upcoming Kiambu County Vicarage Priests Retreat (14th-17th August 2013) where I will be talking to you more about your priesthood.

Your Father in the Lord,
Archbishop Makarios Tillyrides of Kenya

About aoc-kenya

The African Orthodox Church of Kenya, though not Autonomous, is by far the largest in Africa, having three local jurisdictions.

These three jurisdictions came through the unanimous decision of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, to divide the ever growing Archdiocese into three jurisdictions.
