Your Excellency,
RE: Congratulatory Message

On behalf of the Orthodox Church in Kenya and on my behalf, I extend my sincere congratulations to you on becoming the fourth President of the Republic of Kenya. I wish you continued success, God’s guidance and strength while working for the development, common good, and unity of the people of Kenya, an action you and your president have started showing by inviting your political opponents and their supporters to work with you. I am confident that you will both lead this country to a brighter future, and make Kenya a more valuable contributor to regional development and the international arena as well.

I hope that with you as the President, the lost closeness, contact and friendship of the government of Kenya and the Orthodox Church in Kenya, as a valuable institution in the struggle against the colonial rule and the development of this country after independence, shall resume. The relationship of the first President of Kenya, the late Mzee Jomo Kenyatta and the first President of Cyprus, Archbishop Makarios III, founded amidst their struggle for independence for their respective countries, extended this church and government friendship further. I hope that you can help renew, extend and continue this friendship, taking it to the next level.

May I again congratulate you in your new position as the duly elected President of the Republic of Kenya, wishing you every success in discharging the responsible duties of your position. The Orthodox Church in Kenya pledges her continued support and highest considerations to you, your president and all organs of your administration and government.

Sincerely in the Lord’s service,

Archbishop Makarios of Kenya

About aoc-kenya

The African Orthodox Church of Kenya, though not Autonomous, is by far the largest in Africa, having three local jurisdictions.

These three jurisdictions came through the unanimous decision of the Holy Synod of the Patriarchate of Alexandria, to divide the ever growing Archdiocese into three jurisdictions.
